Landscaping - Hitchin Gardener Services

Rosemary Verey, the famous garden designer, once said “True gardening is as much about the bones of a garden as it’s planting’. Few, if any gardens, are complete with some form of soft and hard landscaping. The right use of hard and soft surfaces and structures add character and structure to a garden. Designing or re-designing your garden is exciting.

A key part of our service is incorporating the landscaping you desire into your garden (please note we are not landscape gardeners/garden designers, although we will happily give our advice if you would like!)

Landscaping ideas begin with good research – be inspired by your friends houses for example. Consider the size and layout of your garden, and how you want to make it work for you. Then start sketching or drawing out how you can make your garden achieve your dreams.

The core components of garden landscaping we provide are:

  • Lawns
  • Planting
  • Plant/Flower Beds
  • Hedges
  • Paths and patios
  • Decking
  • Water Features
  • Lighting
  • Walls and Fences – Boundaries and internal
  • Zoning areas (dining, playing, shading etc.)
  • Small structures and buildings such as pergolas and greenhouses

This landscaping can be classed as either Soft or Hard.

Soft landscaping includes lawns, planting, beds, and hedges. Hard landscaping includes hard surfaces on existing ground levels, raised decking or terraces, many water features such as ponds or pools, lighting, walls and fences, and small structures and buildings. Combine soft and hard landscaping to achieve the look you’re going for.

We provide a bespoke service for each of our clients. We can work with you on an existing garden design, work with your designer on a new project, or assist you with your own ideas to create your perfect garden.

Soft landscaping

The role of plants and flowers is to soften your garden. The turf, flowers, trees, beds and hedges all play an important role in bringing the structure of your garden together. Hitchin Gardeners can help you achieve your vision for your garden, providing soft landscaping of great quality in the right places, whether adding in raised beds, planting hedges and shrubs, or selecting the right plants for an intimate patio garden.

With soft landscaping we can transform your garden into an oasis that changes and responds to the seasons, providing interest throughout the year.

Hard landscaping

We will undertake the hard landscaping and garden construction projects you require, with exceptional attention to detail. Hard landscaping is what gives your garden form and structure, and provide the foundations for your soft landscaping.

Wooden Decking – This can be a great alternative to a paved patio, and can present a ‘softer’ appearance in your garden.

Patios – Often the focal point of your garden, also being somewhere to entertain or relax. We have access to a wide range of materials, and we can create a patio that enhances the space and suits your lifestyle.

Walls and Fences – On boundaries and within, they define the edges of your garden, secure your house, and can be used for attractive sectioning and screening. Hitchin Gardeners repair, replace and install walls and fences.

Small Structures and Buildings – We can install these of up to 2 metres in height and 5 square metres in area. Consider these for additional recreational, storage and growing space.

How much will it cost?

Each garden is different, each project is different, and each client has different requirements.  Each design will also require individual materials, vegetation, timescales and labour.  As no two projects are the same, please give us a call and we can provide a no-obligations quote for you.
